Music Ministry
Leader: Heather Wilson

We now have two wonderful music groups in our church and we will be adding a new one very soon.  Please consider lending your talents to one of our great groups where you can serve God and the community through song.

If you come Sunday morning at 10:00 you will likely hear our Chancel Choir...

Music has been an important part of people's lives and their expression of praise, joy and adoration for thousands of years.  Churches have recognized the importance of music to the worship experience.  Today, the choir is an integral part of the worship service by leading and augmenting the congregation in praising God through song.  Under the direction and guidance of our Director of Music, The SUMC Choir is comprised of volunteers from the congregation who enjoy using their vocal gifts to sing with understanding and conviction in supplementing the spirit of worship.

In preparation for Sunday worship, choir members attend rehearsal at the church on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00 and Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:00, right before service.

The Choir is open to all men and women older than age 18 who love to sing.  Come, join this dedicated group in worship through song.

If you come to the 10:00 service on the last Sunday of the month (or select services) you will hear our Praise Band...

The purpose of the SUMC Praise Band is to help the congregation worship God through contemporary music.  We sing everything from praise and worship songs, to jazzed up traditional hymns, to songs you'll hear on your average radio station.  We want to make the church service and exciting and enriching experience for everyone who attends.  Right now we have piano, drums, electric guitar, electric bass, clarinet, and vocals.  No matter what instrument you play we can find a place for you.  And if you play drums, guitar, or piano we'd especially love to have you since it is very hard to be so dependant on the few members we have.

In preparation for Sunday worship, band members attend rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00, with a few extra rehearsals here and there, tailored to fit the schedules of the members.

The Praise Band is open to anyone in Middle School and older who plays an instrument or sings.  Please contact the music director, Heather Wilson, before joining.
