Scouting Since 1973 Smithtown United Methodist Church has been the chartered organization to Boy Scouts of America Troop 565. The troop is part of the Benjamin Tallmadge District of the Suffolk County Council. Troop 565 meets at the church on Monday evenings, from 7:30 to 9:00 pm, from September to June. It is a camping troop and likes to go camping on average once a month. In August the scouts typically attend a week of summer camp at the Yawgoog Scout Reservation in Rockville, Rhode Island. Smithtown United Methodist Church also sponsors Cub Scout Pack 326 which meets at Accompsett Elementary School.
