Wesleyan School
Wesleyan School has been a part of our church since 1960. It is an official organization of the Smithtown United Methodist Church. The school is subject to the control of the Administrative Board. Our school is Christian oriented but not denominationally sectarian. Christian themes and songs are presented to the children. A prayer of thanksgiving is said to God at snack time. Under the leadership of N.Y. State certified teachers, we provide a well-rounded program of instruction for the social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development of your child. We welcome children of all faiths, races, and cultures.
Small classes provide opportunities for a close relationship between the teacher and student. In our program children are encouraged to become involved in various learning activities which include:
- Developing manipulative skills with a variety of materials
- Play activities
- Creative art activities
- Simple games
- Large muscle activities (indoors & outdoors)
- Exposure to literature
- SInging and rhythmic activities
- Science & environmental observations
- Field trips
- Readiness skills
Admission
Children entering nursery school must be three or four years of age by November 30th. Children must be toilet trained and should be able to express themselves well enough to make their basic needs and desires known.
Hours
We offer three day and two day programs for three year olds and three day and five day programs for four year olds. New this year, we have a one day a week Enrichment Class for four year olds. Morning classes are 9:30 am - 12:00 pm and afternoon classes are 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm. Our holidays coincide with Smithtown Public Schools.
